The sounds of Christmas will ring through the sanctuary of the Washington Baptist Church on December 6. as the Rappahannock Chorus presents its annua! winter concert.
An invocation of the traditional holiday spirit, this year’s program includes the beautiful “Ceremony of Carols” written by Benjamin Britton. Portions of the lyrics will be sung in Welsh to the harp accompaniment of Mary Ann Pomfrey.
Judy Bomberger and Beth Bollinger, both accomplished vocalists who have delighted audiences at past performances, will be the featured soloists for the chorus’ rendition of English, French and Ukrainian carols.
The concert promises to be a showcase for new talent as well. David Fisher of Washington, a student at Rappahannock County Elementary School, premiers as a chorus soloist in “Monotone Angel” while Gary Clarke, a high school sophomore from Front Royal, will add the accompaniment of a French horn to special numbers.
In the grand finale of the winter concert, the chorus will be joined by Ken Shook on the trumpet for the presentation of Robert Shaw's “The Many Moods of Christmas.”
