They came up with an idea for a cooperative that would be part showroom and part workshop.
“The craftspeople who belonged to the co-op would take turns minding the store. That would eliminate the payroll expense almost entirely. You’d also be working with people who understood craftspeople," Peter noted.
“It was to be a wonderful place to work, to be involved, to get feedback from each other, to exchange ideas and generate the excitement that only creating artists can give one another.” added Joyce Kramer.
Working alone, an artist also has difficulty filling a store and if the shelves are stocked, it's usually with more of the same kind of craft.
