The kill for the 1981-82 deer season is running well above average with between 400 and 500 deer checked to date, according to Rappahannock game warden Jim Bankston.
At this same point in the hunting season last year, approximately 250 kills had been turned in.
While the abundance of deer is good news for hunters, there’s good news for county landowners as well. Bankston reported that the incidence of illegal hunting—shooting from the road, shooting does out of season and shooting onto posted property—is down.
