In addition, CenTel has increased its investment irt equipment and property by 50 percent, or $88 million, since 1976, according to the company. It also reports that expenses for operation and maintenance have gone up by over 50 percent and that more than $27 million is projected to be spent on construction projects to serve CenTel’s 153,000 customers in 31 Virginia counties.
The utility takes exception to charges of inadequate service. According to customer service manager E. H. Harper, CenTel received 211 fewer customer trouble reports during the period of January through June. 1981, than for the same six months in 1980. Harper termed this a 33.8 percent improvement.
