rooms and they wanted to use three for the bed and breakfast with the possibility of adding a fifth later in an addition to be built.
The planners only recommended approval for three rooms and asked Mr. Weaver to come back with plans for the addition before they would approve another rental unit.
The planners were then ready to adjourn when Mr. McCarthy said he needed to bring the Bleu Rock’s sign application to them.
He said the sign would be a curved wall 20 feet long and five feet high. It would be built of concrete blocks covered with stucco, with letters spelling out Bleu Rock Inn approximately three feet tall. In the center the sign would be about three feet taller with a representation of the blue rock. The sign would be flood lit from below.
“That’s too big for me,” Mr. Gottleib said. “I don’t like the precedent of approving a sign that large. It’s almost a billboard. ”
He said he had eaten there the previous weekend and had a good meal. “If they’d had a sign like that, I wouldn’t have gone.”
