Howard Henry Butler, 67, of Sperryville, died Nov. 24 at his resiHe
was bom July 13, 1923 in Woodville. His parents were the late John Henry and Minnie Howard Butler of Sperryville.
He was a retired employee of the Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Butler was the Treasurer, Chairman of the Trustee Board and a Deacon of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy C. Butler of Sperryville; two daughters, M. Nanette of Washington, D.C. and Doretha H. of Sperryville; two brothers, James R. of Gordonsville and Lewis S. of Sperryville; two sisters, Alise B. Wilson of Staunton and Irene E. Butler of Washington, D.C.; one brother-inlaw, three sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held today at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Woodville at 12 noon. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
The Reverend George 0. Dean, pastor of the Shiloh Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy. The Rev. Dr. Wendell R. Grant, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Washington will officiate. Interment will be in the family section of the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Charles Y. Davis, James L. Harshaw, E. Franklin Warner, William Lee Jackson, Samuel Glasker, Clifford Bill Aylor.
Honorary pallbearers are Rudolph Sloan, Charles Dodson, B. Lee Byrd, Carson B. Johnson, James W. Fletcher, Andrew Venable, Morris Jeffries, Ellis Glasker, Joel Daczewitz, Nelson Nethers, James Green and Richard Slaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rappahannock County Rescue Units.
W.C. Thompson Funeral Home in Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.
