But bad as the Virginia apple reports are, the peach growers fared worse.

Kevin Harding, ag statistician with the Virginia Agricultural Statistics Service, said this year’s peach crop was at 2.5 million pounds. “For a comparison,” he said, “remember that last year’s crop of 15 million pounds was considered only a half crop. It’s been six years since Virginia has had a peach crop that was over 30 million pounds.”
