New recycling center open
All county residents are now permitted to drop off their recyclable materials at the new Washington recycling site one day a month, starting 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Jan.4.
The new site is located next to the Washington Fire Department headquarters on Warren Avenue. Only newspapers are not being accepted.
For the first day next week the town will be passing out hats, refrigerator magnets and shopping bags.
Middle school forum slated
There will be a public information exchange and presentation regarding the proposed middle school construction at Rappahannock High, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 2.
Superintendent Dr. David Gangel will present the background information and why a middle school is needed. The public is encouraged to attend, ask questions and provide input.
