Besides the generous monetary donations, businesses, schools and civic groups put out food boxes that were filled with items of every description.
“It looked like a regular grocery store around here for a while last week,” said Mrs. Davis, smiling.
“We’ve made 68 baskets,” she said, adding overall, the year “has been really good.”
“It started out bleak but it has ended up great,” said Mrs. Davis.
The Christmas basket project began over 13 years ago offering seasonal cheer to just 10 families. It has grown over the years to number more than 65.
“It’s been bad all along but it has gotten worse,” said Mrs. Davis, adding the success of the annual drive belongs to the county.
“It depends on the generosity of the people,” she skid.
