School Superintendent David Gangel brought the expansion committee and the School Board’s recommendation that the county build a new middle school in time for the 1995-96 school year to the Planning Commission and met with limited success.
Dr. Gangel told the planners the elementary school will need an additional section of second grade next year, but will not need four sections of seventh grade. If enrollment supports those estimates, he said, he would not need an additional regular classroom next year. However, the following year, 1993-94 an- additional section of third gratis will be needed, and in 1994-95 another section of fourth grade will be needed.
He said he had two rooms that could be converted to regular classroom use, one by “putting art on a cart." After that he said he would need to have classrooms in the cafeteria or on the stage unless a middle school is available.
