Donations poured into the office from several civic groups, businesses and churches, bringing the total donation to one of the highest ever received.
“In a very short period of time” Rappahannock County citizens helped to provide “the largest number of baskets this office has ever provided,” said Social Services office manager (and organizer of the drive) Marie Davis.
Monetary donations “provided around |3,000,” she said, adding the money was spent at Cooper's IGA in Front Royal, where everything from turkey and stuffing to vegetables and cake mixes were purchased.
“This has been one of the best years ever,” she said.
The Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington was the first large donor, followed by the Rappahannock Lions Club and several other civic groups.
