The County Home Demonstration
Clubs held Achievement Night at Rappahannock High School on Tuesday, December 12. Miss Rebecca Jones, representing the self rising flour and self rising corn meal companies gave the demonstration featuring Christmas baking and she used blue as her Christmas decorating color and scheme. Mrs. Harriet Stokes, gave a short summary of achievements for the year. During the social hour which followed, the members of the Rappahannock School Board (who were meeting in another room of the school) were invited for refreshments.
The Annual Hound Drag Race, sponsored by the Madison County Wildlife Association will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, December 27, 1961 on the Col. Kelso Farm near Haywood, Va. Entry fees will be $1.00 per dog, with the privilege of as many dogs as one owner may wish to enter. There will be an extra charge of $1.00 for nonmembers which will entitle them to association privileges. There will be a fox horn blowing contest immediately after the race. Lunch will be available during the drag. Silver Bowl tropMes will be awrded to winners of the drag race on the night of the Annual Dinner.
