Ira Hudnall
Ira Wilbur “Butch” Hudnall, 77, of Front Royal, died Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Virginia Medical Center in Martinsburg, W. Va.
The funeral was conducted Sunday, Dec. 22 at the Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal by the Rev. Steven J. Jenks and the Rev. James W. Burke. A graveside service, with full military hpnors, was conducted Monday,> Dpc. 23 at Quantico National Cemetery by the Rev. Steven J. Jenks.
Mr. Hudnall was bora Dec. 13, 1914 at Riverside, W.Va., the son of the late John Marion and Sarah Bell Harper Hudnall. He was retired from C.S.A. as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a POW for 26 months. He was a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church, Unity Lodge 146 AF&AM, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 6, BPO Elks Lodge 2382, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 829, Kena Temple Shriner, VFW Post 1860 and Giles B. Cook American Legion Post 53.
He was an honorary member of the Shenandoah Shores Volunteer Fire Department, Bob Frakes Shenandoah Valley Chapter of American Ex-POW, Alexandria Scottish Rites and the Blue Ridge Shrine Club. * Surviving are his wife, Hazell Carter Hudnall; two sons, George E. Hudnall and Charles F. Hudnall, both of Bridgeton, N.J.; a daughter, Ruth Naomi DeKnight of Vineland, N.J.; a sister, Sylvia Kincaid of Vineland, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
