Two residents of Woodville, Bemie and Wilhelmina Price* recently received an unusual honor. An uncle and an aunt donated a total for $125,000 to a small university in North Carolina, Wingate University in the Prices’ name.
The donors, who have asked that their names not be published, informed the Prices of the gift and said that it would provide money for distinguished scholars to visit Wingate for a week or two at a time, giving lectures and meeting with faculty and students.
“I was flabbergasted,” said Mr. Price. “I had no idea that these relatives had such resources and even less idea that they would want to do something for my alma mater.”
