The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community made only $484 putting on the Fourth of July celebration for the Town of Washington.
An important part of being able to produce this celebration was a fundraising garden party with entertainment by Lorraine Duisit and Tom Espinola hosted by Mayor Stewart Willis and his Eve at Mount Prospect in June.
With the nearly $1,260 raised at the party, RAAC was able to take on the expenses of the Fourth of July celebration which included postage and printing to get vendors in, renting tents for vendor stalls, paying for the band Southern Persuasion, providing supper for the 100 members of the Sardell, Minnesota, high school marching band, renting portable toilets arid paying for clean up after the event.
The largest source of income from the Fourth came from parking which brought in $4,746, but this was split with the organizations which supplied volunteers to collect the fees. The Child Care and Learning Center, the Rappahannock Animal Welfare
