Donations and

Supplies Sought

Services to Abused Families, Inc. (SAFE) provides emergency shelter and other services to domestic violence victims and their families in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties (PD 9). As the summer heats up, SAFE anticipates their busiest season. Family tensions rise with the increased temperatures, children out of school, and the alcohol consumption of summer. Help from the community is needed to meet these increased needs.

Recently Ruth Newman of the Lutheran Brotherhood, Central Virginia Chapter 8919 arranged a donation of food items, paper goods, and diapers totally $400 from the Lutheran Brotherhood home office in Minneapolis. This type of assistance is greatly appreciated since it frees up staff time that would be spent raising funds or purchasing supplies.

Individuals or groups who would like to assist SAFE during this busy time may get a current needs list and/or arrange delivery of donations by calling SAFE at 825-8876 or 3498876.

Supplies always needed include main dish mixes, diapers, sanitary supplies, cleaning products, clean baby car seats in good repair, silverware and utensils, pots and pans, and new ladies underwear and socks. Cash donations may be sent to SAFE, P O. Box 402, Culpeper, Va. 22701. SAFE is a United Way agency.
