League, a Scout troop and the Washington Volunteer Fire Department each got a share of the parking proceeds depending on how many of the “parking slots” they provided manpower for throughout the day. RAAC was able to take about $1,500 from the parking fees to apply to other expenses.
The second major source of income came from vendors, who paid for their Gay Street locations. Net Income from vendors amounted $2,245.
Major expenses for the festivities included $2,100 for the musicians, nearly $700 to rent portable toilets and clean up costs.
RAAC made about $482 on its own vendor booth for a total gain from both the garden party and 4th of July activities of $2,226.
RAAC members are concerned that if the organization continues to put on the town’s celebration, the year will come when bad weather reduces the income to below the level of the outgo.
The organization will ask the Town Council to protect it from loss in future years.
