On Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, children who were participating in Camp Fantastic at the Northern Virginia Educational Center enjoyed food and entertainment provided by restaurants, businesses, individuals, and civic clubs in and around Rappahannock County. This was the 16th year that Camp Fantastic, a camp for children between the ages of seven and 17 who are cancer patients at NIH, has been conducted. Camp Fantastic is sponsored by Special Love, Inc.
Along with the children, doctors, nurses and 4-H teen leaders who serve as camp counselors, attend camp. Emily Taylor of Sperryville and Robyn Kaye of Flint Hill attended as counselors this year.
Coordinators work with a great group from the community to plan this event each year. This year, the committee consisted of Sandra Jenkins, Ester Settle, Jan Makela, Marie Davis and Mike Mahoney.
The theme for this year’s Rappahannock Night was an Hawaiian Luau. Charlotte
