I have to confess one of the
forces leading to the vision of the Grand County Festival and History Parade Rappahannock shall have on Sept. 26 was our recognition that awareness and unity are I fundamentally crucial to the health of our county community. We have stepped up our j campaign to encourage every community, town, church, civic organization to carry its banner in the history parade 1 and exhibit in the festival.
Share this vision: every Rappahannock family and community, every church, every civic-minded organization, every business, participating in this event; becoming more self aware as each considers its heritage and stake in the county, and as each works to make a quality presentation as its participating neighbors and sister groups do likewise. Consider the citizens residing in and around our communities which have existed even to the extent of post offices as early as the 1800s: Slate Mills; Laurel Mills; Amissville; Hillsboro; Sandy Hook; Amissville; Gaines Cross Roads; Chester Gap; Rock Mills; Castleton; Hawlin, Black Rock; Scrabble; Flint Hill; Sperryville; Washington; Sandy Hook; Keysville; Woodville, and others.
