The Gum family enjoyed a cookout at my parents, Betty and Denzil Canfield’s home in Madison on Saturday, Aug. 29. Mom and Dad held their annual “cook-the-turkey-in-theground” for family and friends (folks, if you haven’t tried a turkey cooked this way, you have no idea what you are missing.) My sister, Lynette Wells of Pound, came in for the cookout and a short visit. We had lots of good food and fellowship followed by homemade ice cream and watermelon.
