The second annual Rappahannock RoughRide is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, a charity bicycle tour through Rappaihannock County to benefit the Fauquier Free Clinic, Inc.
The tour, which is being sponsored by Fauquier Hospital and many other local residents and businesses, will take bicyclists through Rappahannock County’s beautiful and challenging countryside. There are many routes to choose from that would suit anyone’s riding ability. Paved road rides include a 12, 35 or 60 mile ride, and of course, there’s the infamous “RoughRide,” a 20 or 30 mile ride over paved and unpaved roads especially designed for the rough and rugged.
Last year’s ride was a huge success with over 200 cyclists participating. “We raised over $5,000 for the clinic last year, and this year we hbpe to exceed that,” said Patty Montgomery, the RoughRide committee chairman. ‘Thanks to the generosity of Rappahannock and Fauquier County sponsors, we are well on our way to exceeding our goal.
