Road woes?

County gets ready for annual

review of Six-Year Plan

As Sperryville resident Don Audette states in his

letter below, the time of year for review of the

county’s Six-Year Plan for Secondary Roads comes up again in the next month or two. Last year there was considerable outcry and disagreement about the paving of Yancey Road in the StonewallHawthome District.

People told the Virginia Department of Transportation and the board of supervisors that they felt sufficient notice had not been given about plans for secondary roads.

The Rappahannock News subsequently did a series of articles on each district in the county, its roads, where they fit in on the Six-Year Plan and exactly what the plans are for improvements on each road. Don’t be left standing in the road this year.

The time for residents to get involved again in this planning process is just around the bend. If you are concerned about the future of the road you live on plan to attend the meeting Oct. 5 or contact your supervisor.

Their names and numbers are listed in Mr. Audette’s letter.
