Margaret's father, John A. Compton, was 98 years old at the time of his death. He served as magistrate for over 40 years and in his latter years, his eyesight was impaired. As his deputy, Miss Margaret had done much of the work for him.

Heavy rains, winds, hail and a twister assaulted the Amissville area Monday afternoon resulting in damage to buildings and trees and cutting off electric service for as long as five hours in some places. A portion of the roof of the Amissville Methodist Church was ripped off, tossed over the building and wrapped around a tree. A bam on the Lewie Smith property lost its roof to the twister which also devastated trees in the yard of the E. G. Hackley home.
The Rappahannock Supervisors listened to repeated requests for more school funds and an additional sheriffs deputy at Monday's special budget hearing but they gave no indication that
