Forming the team in Culpeper was Jessica Estes and Brittany Bradley who bore the banner for the drum line. Samantha Brown was on the quads, Brian Taylor on the snare, Matt Swain on cymbals and Ben Verrill, Anthony Clinedinst and Mike Weisse manned the bass drums. Despite dreary, drizzly conditions, the drum line perked everyone up!.
Sperryville’s parade was sunny and delightful to march as Jessica Estes and Ashley Williams bore the drum line banner. Anthony Clinedinst, Ben Verrill and Mike Weisse played bass, while Samantha Brown, Brian Taylor and Matt Swain played quads, snare and cymbals respectively.
Ginger Dennis and Brittany Bradley were gracious enough to watch for dropped drum sticks.
The drum line came home with a very nice first place trophy.
Flint Hill’s parade proved to be a true challenge. With three drum lines vying for Flint Hill’s coveted trophy, and the rain threatening, the weather finally decided to cooperate and the parade was on. Our line-up consisted of the newly formed Honor Guard, and to bear the U. S. and Virginia state flags were Krystal Heflin and Ashley Williams.
The drum line banner was carried by Jessica Estes and Ginger Dennis. Our regular drummers were Matt Swain, Mike Weisse, Anthony Clinedinst, Samantha Brown, Ben Verrill and Brian Taylor. Among those who volunteered to watch for dropped sticks was Kyle O’Harrow. There were a lot of nice comments said of our drum line and we thank everyone for their support. Oh, the drum line brought home some nice hardware from this parade also: first place.
Summer
music lessons
There will be a summer session of music lessons that will be held on Wednesdays (afternoons and evenings) in the RCHS Band Room beginning June 25 and going through the week of August 18.
Lessons will run 45 minutes each and will cost $18. Scholarship money is available. There are teachers for trumpet, low brass, percussion and clarinet/sax. At the time this article went to print, we were still looking for a flute teacher and a piano teacher. Students are welcome to begin lessons this summer to get a head start on
