Last Saturday evening Gourmet
Rappahannock Food & Wine Consortium, in partnership with the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center and the Rappahannock Office of Tourism, hosted a Summer Solstice Dinner atop a knoll overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains on historic Mount Vernon Farm in Sperryville. Over 150 people (152, to be exact) enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by award-winning Chef Cathal Armstrong of Alexandria’s Restaurant Eve.
The majority of those buying tickets and attending the event were from outside Rappahannock County, many visiting Rappahannock for the first time. The intent of the event was to spread the word of Rappahannock’s rich agricultural bounty to people throughout the Northern Virginia/Greater Washington area and to support our farmers by donating proceeds of the evening to the Rappahannock Farmland Preservation Program.
