Tom Gordon

In other business news, Richard Shoemaker, President of Piedmont Broadband, said that it has reached a settlement with Tom Gordon as to the disposition of assets and operating agreements in the county.

Although he said he could not give an amount. Shoemaker said that Piedmont Broadband agreed to pay Gordon in exchange for Gordon ceasing his claims on certain leases for equipment in the countyShoemaker

also said that Gordon agreed ‘not to interfere with and not to be a competitor,” of Piedmont Broadband.

Shoemaker said Piedmont has been rebuilding the wireless network throughout the county likening it to ‘taking a house, lifting it up and putting in a new foundation "

As to the recent announcement by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative President and CEO Kent Farmer that REC was looking to partner with Virginia Broadband to bring wireless Internet access to the county. Shoemaker said that, “there needs to be some kind of coordinated broadband"

“REC needs to talk to us,” he said.
