The sights and sounds of the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show filled Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises July 9-13 as fanners from across the area came out to flaunt their goods.
Locally, numerous members of the Rappahannock community participated, showing everything from pigs and sheep to herbs and apple pies.
Members of Rappahannock’s 4-H Livestock Club, Allie Yowell, 13, Kourtney Yowell, 15, Taylor Yowell, 17, Andrew Heneghan, 16, Maddie Heneghan, 12, and Caroline Massie, 18, won many ribbons for their hogs, steers, and lambs at this year’s show.
Led by Jim Massie, the club met on the show’s final day, July 13, for the livestock sale.
Allie Yowell’s hog and 1,175-pound steer “Bailey” won her a fourth place senior showmanship award and a first place .senior novice showmanship award.
Andrew Heneghan won three ribbons for his hogs, while sister, Maddie won a third place ribbon for her lamb, “Sammy."
Everyone in the Zinn-Day household were exhibitors in the farm show. Kevin entered garden vegetables. Daughters and 4-H All Stars, Devin and Carly entered fine arts and crafts and Hazel entered herbs, flowers, art, and photography.
Hazel Zinn-Day won best in show with her recycled item entry, a skeleton made from milk jugs.
Hazel is also a 4-H All Star
