The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad continues to improve staffing, equipment and morale.
Congratulations to members James Bane, Heather Waddell and Joan Garcia who passed their state Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) exam and to Angela Bane, Joan Garcia, Aran Weisgerber and Deanna Wayland who passed their Emergency Vehicle Operation Certification (EVOC) exam.
The recent purchase of a new' utility vehicle increases the ability of the squad to respond to physical locations where the larger ambulance is unable to go. For their untiring work to organize not only organizing the 4th of July vendor booth, but also many other squad functions. Member of the Month recognition was awarded to James and Angela Bane.
The squad also celebrated July birthdays for Lena Jemigan, Angela Bane and Geraldine Payne at the monthly meeting.
High on the Hog BBQ takeout will be available in the parking lot of SVRS on Saturday, July 25. JD Hartman wall donate 15 percent of each sale to SVRS, so come and enjoy a great lunch in Sperryville on Saturday and contribute to the squad at the same time.
It is critical to the vitality of the squad to continue to recruit new members so that the workload can be shared and volunteers have the camaraderie of a strong team.
