The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors addressed the meals and lodging tax, school roof repair and the Amissville Post Office, among other items at its July meeting. All five members were present, as well as County Administrator John McCarthy, County Attorney Peter Luke and Clerk Diane Bruce The board took up the issue of a county meals and lodging tax during the evening session. The draft ordinance establishes a tax of not more than four percent on prepared food and beverages sold for human consumption and two percent for transient lodging It allows for Bed and Breakfasts to add a four percent tax on their bill to cover food, beverages and lodging.

Rappahannock ladies, Alice Pullen, Marie Davis and Ethel Bailey, showed off their treasures at the annual farm show.
