Rappahannock residents reacted with glum resignation on new s that their electnc rates will be going up significantly in the near future.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative CEO Kent Farmer informed the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors at its July meeting that rates would be going up by 30 percent
Farmer said that REC is in the final stages of getting its acquisition of Allegheny Power distribution assets in the county approved The switch could take place as soon as the beginning of next year, he said.
Richard Compton of Amissville - getting his hair cut at the SperrvviHe Barber Shop - said it was just like taxes: "I don't think we can do anything about it." he said.
