Seeking contestants
Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is seeking young ladies (ages 1-21) and young men (ages 1-8) to participate in its annual carnival Aug. 5-8. Contestants will be selling raffle tickets on a 2009 Chevy Colorado pickup truck. For more information call Karen Williams at 540-635-4673.
The National Park Service is offering three “Fee Free Weekends” this summer at national parks, including the Shenandoah National Park. Entrance fees will be waived on Aug. 15-16. Music lessons during the summer, a great time to learn to play an instrument. Instruction in trumpet, trombone, flute, piano, Clarinet, saxophone, percussion and voice. Many of the instructors are upper level students at Shenandoah Conservatory, and some are knowledgeable, enthusiastic local musicians. Lessons cost $16 per 1/2 hour, weekly lesson.
