New Field Station
Opened At Warsaw
A new field unit of the Virginia Experiment Station is being opened near Warsaw in Richmond county, and varietal tests will be-, gin there this season.
H. L. D u n t o n, head of the agronomy department at VPI, says the unit includes aboot 40 acres of open land and 10 acres of woodland.
The unit takes the name and the place of the Eastern Virginia Field Station at Williamsburg, and the station formeily located at Bowling Green. The-Williamsburg station will be closed at the end of the 1950 growing season. H. N. Camper, assstant agronomist at Williamsburg, will be in charge of the ,new station.
Soils mainly are of Sassafras fine sandy loam, and are adapted to almost any type of crop. The topography of the land is uniform and very good for experimental work.
