Garden Club Meeting
Mrs. Bessie Bradford was hostess to the Flint Hill Garden club Wednesday afternoon, April 12.
Mrs. H. S. Barksdale gave an instrjctive talk on the culture of varieties of roses. Mrs. James M. Settle, chairman of the clean-up committee reported on plans for the campaign to be held during the last week in this month.
Club members discussed plans for attending the April meeting of the Rappahannock Garden club, at which time there wil] be a special speaker, one who helped write a book on flower arrangements and color harmony.
Exhibits on display consisted of spring flower arrangements, including jonquils, forsythia, and other spring flowers. Mrs. J. M. Settle’s exhibit received the highest rating, with Mrs. John Browning, second.
Mrs. II. S. Barksdale of Flint Hill and Mrs. H. C. Warwick were visitors of the club.
VFW Post Meets Monday
The V.F.W. Post 1150 will have an installation of officers at their regular meeting in the V.F.W. hall, Sperryville, Monday, April 17, at 8 p.m. Comrade W. I. Wooddell, department adjutant quartermaster of Staunton, will be present at this meeting to install the new officers for this year;
All members of the post and the auxiliary are urged to be present for this meeting.
