County Cancer Drive
Off To Fine Start
The reports of the workers forth e first week of the current cancer fund drive indicate that the campaign is off to a flying star;. If the splendid response of the public continues, state the volunteer workers, there is a good prospect that Rappahannock’s goal will be readied and passed.
The workers report the following people were the fir<t to contribute in their districts: Mr=. Z II. Sealock, Sperryvjlle; Mrs. Clift n N'ethers, Amissville; Mrs. J. H. Filling, Woodville; Mrs. W. M. St. art, Washington; and Mrs. .1. R. Williams and Miss Minnie Williams. Flint Hill. Harvey Clanagan was the first of the colored people to contribute.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to this worthy cause can do so by mailing their donations to the American Cancer Society, in care of Mrs. H. Ci. Warwick, local chairman. .
Albert Strother Burke
Albert S. Burke, 69, retire! farmer, died at his residence in Woodville Monday, April 10, after a long period of declining health.
Mr. Burke was the son of the late George Booten Burke and Mr/. Bettie Elizabeth Woodward , of Rappahannock county. He is urvived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Carpenter Burke; a son, Charles J. Burke of Culpeper; a grandson, Harris H. Burke of Culpeper; two brothers, Chai lie M. Burke of Culpeper and William H. Burke <>f Winchester; and two .-i.stvr--, MrRobert Jwikini and Mr-.
