from page 1.) April 5. T-shirts were tried on for size. List was read by the agent as to who will receive 4-H pins . next time. A contest was held, and, the articles made by the girls were judged by the agent and Mrs. Joe Hitt, club leader. Joan Scott received a blue ribbon for tier apron and a red ribbon for her sewing box, and. Barbara Ann Dodson received a red ribbon for tile kitchen towel she hemmed.
The Reager 4-H Club held its ami a! dull contest on. the din. Each year this is held for the pur pose 0f choosing the best work dune in the club, and it was a hard job ... all articles were made so nicely. Mrs. Lewis Harrison, the club leader, and the agent finally came to a decision, though, the winners were the following: Winning out in the "So You Want to Sew" project were 1st place, blue ribbon, Shelby Jean William; 2nd place, red ribbon. Rosa Belle Williams; 3rd place, white ribbon, Mary Lou Campbell; winning out in the most outstanding work done in the club “were: Alice Lee Harrison, receiving a blue ribbon; Hazel Wines, receiving a blue ribbon. Winning out in the “Landing” project: 1st place, bRe ribbon, Alice Lee Harrison; 2nd place, red ribbon, Hazel Wines; 3rd place, white ribbon, Ruby Wines.
Washington Jr. 4-H Club met at the school, April 6. The club decided to sponsor along with the Sr. 4-H, a dance, sometime in the near future. The proceeds made off of this will go toward sending 4-H members to camp this summer. This club decided on their club goals for the year. They are going to try to have 90'/< completion of projects this year,
100 be attendance at the club meetings and try to enter nineteen exhibits in the fair. This club decided to send 4 delegates to camp this summer.
Mrs. Edna Walker and Mrs. Grace Weaver gave an excellent demonstration on Window Treatment to the Washington Home Demonstration Club, April 5. They showed the women present all different types of curtains and drapes . . . how to completely change the looks of your room through the right type of window treatment. The Home Agent announced a Recreation meeting April 29 in Charlottesville. The recreation chairman of each club will be asked to attend this meeting. The District Federation meeting in Fairfax was announced again. This will be held May 2, and K is hoped that a large number will attend from the county. |
