The Pair waswsuccess. It; matters not if it made money, it is of little consequence if hundreds of thousands of people attended; the number and quality of exhibits may have been higher and that, too, was not all important.
The people had a good time and in cash that can’t be measured. It was a time for folks to visit, to talk, to enjoy the company of their neighbors in the county, and in that respect it was a prime success.
Let it- not be said of Rappahannock that they can’t just get together and have a good time. State it plainly: we like good company and we knew where to find , ■ it right at home.

One of Rappahannock’s expressions is often used when letterwriting time rolls around. Brevity is more than the soul of wit—it’a often a necessity and is certainly more kind to the recipient who would like to know what it is you have to say without going “all around Robin Hood’s .barn’’ first. Some years ago a gentleman of the county went to Mr. B. and asked him to write a letter for him—to his true love. Pen in hand, Mr. B. turned to the gentleman: “Well, yyhat do you want to tell her?” “Tell that girl I love her x and bring it to a close,” was the probipt reply.
