Property owners and business* «s in Washington have received notices from the mayor and town _£Ouncil of Washington that April— Fridsy-the-iatn has'beep set aa “Clean-up Day” for the town.
The special day set apart le following the ladies' plans to improve the appearance of the town and inaugurate a special day to encourage, property owners . to have their cleaning done by that time.";- "
The lady mayor and the ladies of the town council have received wor<^ that a representative from the Woman’s Home Companion plans to be present on “Clean-Up Day” to take pictures of the cleaning and the results. The ladies hope that the results shown in one town may be. an inspiration to other towns throughout the State and country to inaugurate cleanup days and encourage all citizens to take especial pride in the appearance of their property.
On February 16, following the first plans of the council to start! a clean-up program, some property owners went to work immediately. (There is some conjecture as to whether the plans of the property owners were already made prior to the announcement by the town’s municipal government, but the ladies might aa well have some credit).
