The local board office, more commonly known as “the draft board office,” is headquarters for the Selective Service System in the community under its jurisdiction. Local board clerks act as office managers and custodians of the records of registrants, it was stated by State headquarters for selective service recently.
The local board clerk must have a working knowledge of selective service regulations and policies, which calls for constantstudy in order to keep abreast of the information being sent down from National and State headquarters. The clerk is glad to give out such information pertaining to selective service to registrants or other interested persons.
In many cases registrants are’ going to extreme trouble to get information which is readily available at the local board office in his community, whether he is registered with that particular board or not.
