Plant Underway For
Opening Cancer Drive
The Cancer Drive in Rappahannock county will open April 2 with other event* scheduled for the month of April to join tho local chapter with the nation-wide concerted drive to fight the dread No. 2 killer in the United States, cancer.
An educational movie, free of charge, will be given at Rappahannock High School Monday, April 2. This educational film, for women, is designed to teach detection of cancer in the early stages when it is curable, and thereby prevent the spread of the disease. . The American Cancer Society has two major purposes: to teach people how to detect cancer in ita early stages in order to arrest it; and to further the study for cancer prevention and cure. This society is manned by volunteer workers, giving their services so that all funds contributed may go immediately to work to live up to the slogan “Give—Strike at Cancer!”
On Friday evening, April 7, a benefit dance for the local Cancer Drive- will be given at Rappahannock High School, Washington. Vance Butler and His Virginia Playboys will be on hand for the music.
Plans for a talent show are in the making.
