We could hear Joe Johnson—“Now what am I bid for this chair ladies, do 1 hear $1.00; I now hare $2; now $2.80. Gosh, we’re late. On it went until late afternoon, until the last article was sold.
The beautiful .walnut cupboard went to a lady over near Madison.
Folks were there from most everywhere ... It was really a day to meet old acquaintances and to make new- ones'. 7. what fun.
A lady, from over Linden way was the lucky purchaser of an extension walnut dining room table that had belonged to her grandmother . . . Joe Johnson at this point is still asking the ladies to bo quiet so he could cry the sale . . . the ladies have not heard him. Oh and on it goes . . . who there? ... Oh, she did? ... Gosh, why am I talking so much, I .want* ed that Vase and now its gone, I didn't hear Mr. Johnson cry it, did you?, be should talk louder. Look here Mr. -(’ll give you 25 cents, I believe you’ve run out of money. All day the person had been hollering ’’Quarter” to every article offered—from dishes to beds. . . . Another lady buying up all the pickle she could find, she had been late getting to the sale, lucky she was to find two quarts.
