Senator Douglas of Illinois has expressed himself as to qualities -necessary for a President of the United States. Quoth the Senator: “the White House is for a combination of Lincoln, Jefferson, Clev eland, the two Roosevelts, and Sandow the Strong Man." As a postscript, he added that the man in the White House also, needed the patience of Job.
Some people are wondering if the Senator was serious in thinking it necessary for a President to hold even half of these qualifications, or was he doing a little wishful thinking.
