barberry eradication project is a cooperative activity of the State and Federal Departments of Agriculture. The eradication of barberry bushes to control stem rust of wheat, oats, bar? ley, and rye was started by Id gram-producing states and the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1018 following the severe rust epidemic in 1016. The control area extended to include Virginia and four other states in 1S34. , Since then barberry eradication bas been conducted in 28 «mn-- - ties where several million bushes have been found and eradicated.
