Clean-up Day

The ladies of the county Home Demonstration clubs will serve lunch, 35 cents per plate, in front of the Firehouse on Friday-the13th, Washington’s Clean-Up Day.

The ballot box for casting votes in the beautification program twill be located on the Courthouse Lawn. Miss Ruby Jenkins will be present, and citizens are to cast their ballots for their choice as winner in the clean-up campaign of the town.

Mrs. J.'W. Critzer is chairman in charge of issuing free tickets for the dance to those who have participated in the clean-up program.

The Home Economics class of Rappahannock High School, with Miss Beth Owen in charge, will give a dance in the school auditorium at night.

Clarence O’Neil Oden will be in hiding all day because he has heard that Miss Toni Taylor of “Woman’s Home Companion” is in town gathering material for a story on the clean-up day and that she has brought a photographer along with her. “Cheese’ has an especial aversion toward photographers. Some of the picturetakers here last summer got his picture, but they had to hog-tie him first.
