With spring in the air and the "young man’s fancy” turning in its proper direction, a young fellow of the neighborhood has ani nounced that he’s not letting the girls get ahead of him. He heard a young lady speaking of her “hope chest.” She explained that the female of the species placed household linens and other housekeeping items in a “hope chest,” the insinuation being that she! hopes to be married.
The fellow has now taken up the custom for the male of the; species, saying he calls his “hope chest” a “god-knows-when barrel.”

Everything today is speed and high tension. We live in a mad rush—high speed—big scale—• mass production—rush and confusion. We’re bound to pay for it sooner or later. Why, just the other day the minister complained: “We’ve become so keyed up and nervous that it is almost impossible to put people to sleep with a sermon. I haven't seen anyone sleeping in church in years—ami I tell you that’s a bad situation.”
