Town Council Pleased
With Clean-up Program
With enthusiasm at the response of the citizens, the all-lady town council of Washington held its meeting Tuesday night, April 10, in tiie Firehouse, and continued plans for the big day Friday, April 13.
Letters were read and reports given by the various committees on work done in planning the clean-up program. Mr. Rock, engineer of highway beautification, had visited the totfn and was most co-operative with the plans for patting up welcome signs at the entrances to town, and otfyer plans for improving the appearance of the “First Washington.”
The ladies made a motion to the effect that they approved of the cleaning of all alleys in .the town and removing brush and debris from the sides of the town streets. Plans were completed for placing trash barrels shout the town and encouraging tidiness.
Reports were made and favorable comment made on some of the cleaning already done on pieces of property in town, and particularly on vacant lots being cleaned. Excellent spirit of cooperation has already been shown by the Home Demonstration club, Boy Scouts, 4-H clubs, American Legion, Garden club, ladies of the fire auxiliary, and the businessmen
