Cancer can Bt cured
"Why try to find cancer early? Of what good is it to hare my doctor tell me I have cancer—if you have cancer, your goose it cooked and there’s nothing doctors can do for you anyway."
These gloomy statements have come from several of our citisens here and they are so untrue and reflect such uninformed thinking that we are compelled to try to set the record straight.
The problem of cancer is as old as man himself and until recent year* was little studied because of the apparent hopelessness of trying to cure the disease, but during the last two decades tremendous strides have been taken by the medical profession and research scientists. They have! shown that cancer, discovered early and treated competently at once, has an excellent chance of being permanently destroyed.
This fact is the basis of the excellent program of education of the layman and his doctor of the American Cancer Society and why their call for funds to carry on the work each April is so essential.
Most of the doctors in this area agree that the most effective way of catching cancer early is by a periodic medical examination of each patient. That is why many of the doctors urge a visit to a doctor at least once each year for a complete checkup regardless of how well anyone feels.
