Woodson Poles, sr.
Woodson Poles, Sr., age 75, died at his home Smedley, June 9, 1951, he was born and raised heie and spent his entire life in the community. He was a highly respected citizen, and was a kind and loving person, liked by everyone. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Freeman Poles; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Karris and Mrs. Annie Greenleaf; five sons, Haywood, Clarence, Jack, of Philadelphia, Pa.; Raymond, of Front Royal; Pfc. Woodson Poles, Jr., now in Korea; eleven grandchildren, one bi other, Tellus Poles, of Front Royal, and other relatives. ;
The funeral service wag' conducted Tuesday by his pastor, Rev. O. D. Jackson at the Promise Land Baptist church, of which he was a member.
Pallbearers were: Haywood, Jack, Raymond, and Clarence Poles, Oliver Johnson, and Cleophas Watts. Honorary pallbearers were: Mary Maud Johnson, James Oliver Johnson, Mary Maud and Jackie Poles, Bertha, Deloris and Lilian Freeman and Leslie Green.
