Returned for Gatewood
The Jury, oat 40 minute*, returned a verdict of first degree murder against Otha McKinley Gatewood, Negro, for the fatal shooting of Morton (Brownie) Clanagan, Negro, three months ago. The verdict carried a penitentiary sentence of 80 years, but at the conclusion of the trial, Attorney Alfred M. Hickman, counsel for Gatewood, moved the Court to set aside the verdict aB ‘contrary to evidence.” The motion was continued and will be heard at a later date.
