Monday morning, January 7, the groups will boar discussions on merchandising and advertising the apple crop. That afternoon, production of cherries, mouse control, and grower-processor relations, will be discussed. Monday night the V.P.I. student speaking contest, and a lecture by Dr. Walter Flick, Washington and Lee University, .will be featured. Tuesday morning sessions will be devoted to “Harnessing Hormones'* an d1" Peach Varieties and Trends.” Tuesday afternoon, the group will hear lectures on apple and peach harvesting and storage problems. Speaker for the annual banquet Tuesday night will be Sam Fraser, Rochester, New York, secretary, International Apple Association, who will speak on “Economic Trends in the Fruit Business.” In addition, recongnition will be given members of +he Pomological Society, and Applachian Quality Apple Club membership awards and Wilder medal awards will be given. i
The Wednesday morning session will feature discussions on fruit spray problems.
The women’s Auxilary of the ISociety .will hold concurrent sessions.

Lice Control on Cattle
Needed Before Putting
In Winter Quarters
Treat cattle for lice before put. ting them in winter quarters.
That’s the advice from J. 0. Rowell, Extension entomologist at V.P.I., who warns that lice often are the cause of declines in milk and beef production.
They ■should be destroyed any time they are found on animals, but it is especially important to control them at this time of year, since the lice reproduce and spread rapidly among cattle in warm, congested quarters.
A single thorough treatment with a 1J percent DDT spray will eliminate lice completely, but should not be uged on* cattle 'n the milking herd of being finished for slaughter. ___r
One application of a lindane spray can be used on dairy anmals and beef animals alike. Apply lindane at the rate of li pounds of a 25 percent gamma wettable powder to 100 gallons of water.
