The Flint Hill Home Demonstration club met with Mrs. Barbara Gentry, Monday, November 19. The foods leaden, Mrs. Barbara Gentry and Mrs. Mabel Lollard, gave a demonstration on “Importance of A Good Breakfast.” The club decided at the meeting that each person would bring a gift not exceed 25 cents to the next meeting.
Huntly home demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. Pearl Mills, Monday November 19. Mrs. Lewis Harrison and Mrs. Carl Carpenter, foods leaders, demonstrated the “Importance of Eating A Good Breakfast.”
To enjoy Christmas this year, let's get ready ahead of time. Christmas is a family time and the time for fun together. Let's plan so every member of the family can enjoy Christmas. Start now so all can share in the fun of getting ready.
1. Make fruit cake and go shopping in November and early December.
2. If you have a freezer or locker space, stuff turkey and cook giblets and freeze it*in broth in which they are cooked. These will then be ready for gravy on the day of the feast. Cooked sweet potatoes are delicious frozen . . prepare your favorite recipe. Cake batter may be frozen and baked as you wish, or maybe baked, cooleiT'and frozen. Suggested time for this freezing is next week, December 3.
3. During week of December 10: (a) Make ice box cookies, pound cake and store in ice box. (b) Clean and polish silver, (c) Plan menu for Christmas week, (d) Launder linens and curtains, etc. (e) Make up a large supply of biscuit, waffle and pastry mix and store in a cold place.
4. Have all packages wrapped by December 13.
5. December 19: Put up outside decoration. If you are rushed don’t try to make a wreath. A bunch of pine boughs tied with a big red bow will look just as nice.
6. December 20: Make your Christmas candy. Cook and bone a ham and make cranberry sauce.
7. December 21: If you do not have a freezer bake cookies or cakes and make rolls and put in refrigerator. Qf you have a freezer this is.all finished.)
December 22: Decorate your house including the tree.
December 24: Stuff turkey or prepare other meat (or take from freezer).
Prepare dessert for Christmas dinner and salad if it must congeal wash celery, chill pickles, etc.
Prepare simple meals during the holiday and enjoy Christmas Eve.
